The government does not provide Helping Hand with all of its funding. Many of our services, such as extra care facilities, furnishings, equipment, repairs, renovations, indoor and outdoor activities, and specialised nutrition, are self-financed. Since 2001, we have also operated the Zhaoqing Home for the Elderly in China on a self-financing basis. This allows elderly individuals waiting for government-subsidised spots to gain immediate, reduced-cost admission. Additional funding is essential, and we rely heavily on donations.
Generous contributions from the public and corporate sectors have been vital in covering our operating expenses over the years. To maintain financial stability and support the creation of new service projects, we need an additional $10 million to $13 million in donations annually, alongside some fixed and predictable income. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of our elderly and enable them to fully enjoy their retirement years. Our commitment has always been and will remain unwavering.
