The Hong Kong Jockey Club Helping Hand Zhaoqing Home for the Elderly
First of its kind
In response to the shortage of subsidised care and attention places in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Helping Hand Zhaoqing Home for the Elderly established in 2000, providing a new and affordable option for the elderly.
Zhaoqing Home operates on a self-financing basis. It was awarded "Grade A" accreditation for social welfare organization by the Guangdong Provincial Civil Administration office and "Accreditation Certificate" by Hong Kong Association of Gerontology.
In recent years, Zhaoqing Home has been invited by the HKSAR Government to participate in the "Pilot Residential Care Services Scheme in Guangdong" , providing subsidised residential care services to the eligible elderly in Hong Kong.

Zhaoqing Home has a site area of 400,000 square feet and is situated in a beautiful, serene, and scenic environment. It is located near a golf course and an agricultural park, as well as numerous tourist attractions, shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, and a movie theatre.
How to go to The Hong Kong Jockey Club Helping Hand Zhaoqing Home for the Elderly from Hong Kong:
- High Speed Rail From Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Zhaoqing East Station (around 2 hours); or
- shuttle bus to Zhaoqing (around 4 hours under normal traffic conditions); or

Residential Care Services Scheme in Guangdong
Applicants who are on the Central Waiting List for subsidised care and attention places or nursing home places in Hong Kong can apply to this scheme.
Services include
- accommodation at 4- persons bedroom or 2-persons bedroom in Dementia Wing
- 24 hours round the clock nursing and personal care services
- 3 meals per day plus snacks
- out-patient and hospital insurance
- tailor-made individual care plan
- counselling services and various kinds of program & activity
- therapeutic exercises and treatment
- emergency ambulance service for transfer back to Hong Kong (on need basis)
- escort service back to Hong Kong for medical follow-up (on need basis)

1. What are the main services provided by the Helping Hand Zhaoqing Home for the Elderly?
Our ZQ Home offers nursing and elderly care services, including 24-hour nursing care, personal daily living assistance, rehabilitation therapy, medical insurance, meal provision, and specialized dementia care. The medical and nursing team consists of resident doctors, nurses, rehabilitation therapists, and care workers who provide comprehensive medical and daily care. If needed, the Home can arrange outpatient and inpatient treatment at partner hospitals and also arrange local medical insurance for additional protection for the elderly.
2. What are the eligibility criteria and application procedures for admission?
Applicants must be aged 60 or above. Both healthy and those with care needs from Hong Kong can apply. Application forms can be downloaded and submitted via email, fax, or mail to the Helping Hand Head Office Service Department. Subsidized beds can also be applied for through the "Guangdong Residential Care Service Scheme".
3. Where is the Home located and how is the transportation?
Our Home is located at Fushouping, Luyin Avenue, Baitu Town, Gaoyao District, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, China. It can be reached from Hong Kong by high-speed rail (about 2 hours), direct coach (about 4 hours), or by long-distance bus "Long Ba" from Shenzhen Luohu.
4. What accommodation facilities are available?
Our Home provides single rooms, double rooms, and four-person rooms equipped with air conditioning, heating, wheelchair accessibility, and other assistive devices. Facilities include resting areas, activity rooms, rehabilitation therapy rooms, hairdressing rooms, and outdoor fitness facilities.
5. What are the fees and payment methods?
Our Home offers both self-financed beds and subsidized beds under the "Guangdong Residential Care Service Scheme." Personal consumables and extra services are charged separately.
