Give A Helping Hand

We can change the world and make it a better place. It is in our hands to make a difference.

- Nelson Mandela

Please give a Helping Hand, we are a charitable organization dedicated to providing assistance to needy elderly people in Hong Kong. Through donate HK, you will make valuable contributions to improve their lives.

Charity Donation

Helping Hand is not entirely government-funded. We rely on external support, corporate partnership, and importantly, monthly donation to provide additional care facilities, equipment, furniture, repairs and renovations, as well as indoor and outdoor activities and specialised nutritional foods.

The government does not subsidise hostels for elderly individuals who can care for themselves, even though many rely on shelter due to poverty, family abandonment, disputes, or domestic violence. Since 1990, we have been operating three Self-care Homes for the Elderly on a self-financing basis with a cost-effective staffing ratio. These homes are the only hostels in Hong Kong for self-sufficient elderly individuals. Over the years, we've depended on corporate partnership, monthly donation and public charitable giving to cover our operating costs and basic necessities.

Helping Hand is a government-recognised charitable organisation dedicated to providing a wide range of support services for the elderly, as well as essential assistance for their caregivers. We are in urgent need of sponsorships and charity donations from all sectors of society to advance our programmes and ensure that service users across various fields and backgrounds receive more comprehensive and higher-quality care.

Your support is vital. Every charity donation is a gesture of compassion toward our elderly, helping them receive the care they deserve and live their later years with dignity and warmth.

Monthly Donation: A Continuous Caring Power for the Elderly

A monthly donation refers to a fixed amount that donors regularly contribute every month, becoming our steady supporters. This ongoing form of donation enables us to plan more effectively and address the long-term care needs of the elderly, ensuring uninterrupted services that continuously bring warmth and care to seniors.

By setting up a monthly donation through our online donation page, you become part of a caring community committed to enhancing the lives of elderly individuals in need. Your ongoing support empowers us to provide meaningful services and bring comfort, dignity, and hope to their later years. Your support helps us:

Monthly Donation Amount Reference and Supported Project Examples:

  • Monthly donation of HK$100:
Can provide two frail elderly residents with one nutritious and visually appealing soft meal each day, helping to improve swallowing difficulties and stimulate appetite, thereby increasing their interest in food.
  • Monthly donation of HK$200:
Can provide five frail elderly residents with nutritional milk daily, helping to improve their weight and overall health.
  • Monthly donation of HK$300:
Can add one additional activity per week for residents, helping them stay physically active, socially connected, reduce feelings of loneliness, and promote emotional well-being.
  • Monthly donation of HK$500 or above:
Supports the purchase or improvement of new safety equipment such as anti-fall handrails and emergency call systems, enhancing the safety and comfort of residents’ living environments.

Why Choose Monthly Donation?

  1. It's predictable: Monthly donation helps us plan ahead and respond quickly to urgent needs.
  2. It’s powerful: Even HK$100 a month can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
  3. It's effortless: Set up once, and your donation will be automatically processed every month, allowing the power of love to continue month after month.

Become one of our monthly donors, and accompany them to live their twilight years with dignity, health, and fulfillment.

To ensure continued financial stability and to launch new service initiatives, we require an additional HK$10 million to HK$13 million in donations each year, supplemented by a reliable and consistent income stream. Your support empowers us to extend our reach and deepen our impact across the community.
