Donation
Helping Hand is not entirely government-funded. We rely on external support for additional care facilities, equipment, furniture, repairs and renovations, as well as indoor and outdoor activities, and specialised nutritional foods.
The government does not subsidise hostels for elderly individuals who can care for themselves, even though they often need shelter due to poverty, family abandonment, disputes, or domestic violence. Since 1990, we have been operating three Self-care Homes for the Elderly on a self-financing basis with a cost-effective staffing ratio. These homes are the only hostels in Hong Kong for self-sufficient elderly individuals. Over the years, we've depended on corporate and public donations to cover our operating costs and basic necessities.
Additionally, we require external sponsorships and donations for various special community projects and caregiver support services to improve our offerings and extend our reach.
We need your support to improve the lives of the needy elderly in Hong Kong.

Fundraising
Over the years, we have relied on generous donations from both the public and corporate sectors to cover our operating expenses. To maintain our financial stability and fund new service projects, we need an additional $10 million to $13 million in donations annually, along with some fixed and predictable income.

Volunteering
We invite companies and individuals to volunteer their services to our elderly residents. You might teach interest classes, offer specialised services like photography, design, reading, and haircuts, help organise indoor and outdoor activities, assist with home maintenance, or support fundraising efforts. We welcome your creative ideas and participation.
Additionally, organisations, schools, groups, and individuals are encouraged to visit our residential homes and day care units, providing residents with valuable connections to the outside world.
