Give A Helping Hand

We can change the world and make it a better place. It is in our hands to make a difference.

- Nelson Mandela

Charity Donation

Helping Hand is not entirely government-funded. We rely on external support and corporate partnership for additional care facilities, equipment, furniture, repairs and renovations, as well as indoor and outdoor activities and specialised nutritional foods.

The government does not subsidise hostels for elderly individuals who can care for themselves, even though they often need shelter due to poverty, family abandonment, disputes, or domestic violence. Since 1990, we have been operating three Self-care Homes for the Elderly on a self-financing basis with a cost-effective staffing ratio. These homes are the only hostels in Hong Kong for self-sufficient elderly individuals. Over the years, we've depended on corporate and public donations to cover our operating costs and basic necessities.

Helping Hand is a government-recognised charitable organisation dedicated to providing a wide range of support services for the elderly, as well as essential assistance for their caregivers. We are in urgent need of sponsorships and charity donations from all sectors of society to advance our programmes and ensure that service users across various fields and backgrounds receive more comprehensive and higher-quality care.

Your support is vital. Every charity donation is a gesture of compassion toward our elderly, helping them receive the care they deserve and live their later years with dignity and warmth.

The 11th of every month is “AEON Day.” Customers can choose to place their AEON shopping receipts from that day—known as the “Yellow Receipt of Happiness”—into Helping Hand’s designated collection box. Monthly Donation: A Lifeline for Our Elderly

At Helping Hand, we serve Hong Kong’s elderly with compassion, dignity, and care. But to continue our mission, we rely on the power of monthly donations—the most effective way to create lasting impact.

By setting up a monthly donation through our online donation page, you become part of a caring community committed to enhancing the lives of elderly individuals in need. Your ongoing support empowers us to provide meaningful services and bring comfort, dignity, and hope to their later years. Your support helps us:

  1. Serve nutritious and visually appealing soft meals to residents with swallowing difficulties, encouraging their interest in food and supporting their overall health.
  2. Provide nutritional milk to frail seniors facing financial hardship, ensuring they receive essential nourishment.
  3. Organise engaging activities that keep residents physically active and socially connected, promoting both mental and emotional well-being.
  4. Enhance the living environment of our care home and invest in appropriate equipment to improve comfort, safety, and quality of life.

Why Choose Monthly Donation?

  1. It's predictable: Monthly donations help us plan ahead and respond quickly to urgent needs.
  2. It’s powerful: Even HK$100 a month can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
  3. It’s effortless: Set it once, and your kindness continues every month.

Fundraising

As a charitable organisation, Helping Hand has long depended on the generosity of individuals and corporate partners to sustain our operations. To ensure continued financial stability and to launch new service initiatives, we require an additional HK$10 million to HK$13 million in donations each year, supplemented by a reliable and consistent income stream. Your support empowers us to extend our reach and deepen our impact across the community.

Cookie Campaign

The Cookie Campaign has been held annually since 1984 and is Helping Hand’s signature fundraiser.  Funds raised from cookie sales help to support the running costs of Helping Hand’s elderly homes and services.

Volunteering

We invite companies and individuals to volunteer their services to our elderly residents. Additionally, organisations, schools, groups, and individuals are encouraged to visit our residential homes and day care units, providing residents with valuable connections to the outside world.
