CARE HOME RESIDENT
Helping Hand Hongkong Bank Fouondation Lok Fu Care Home

When we first moved to Hong Kong, my husband got a small boat. I would make boat congee and sweet soups for him to sell to the fishermen. At the time, I was also busy looking after our two daughters. Years later, I started working at a noodle shop, helping to pack noodle cakes to sell. My eldest daughter had to start working when she was just 12—first making watch straps, then working at a garment factory. But now, she’s already 78 years old!

I love chatting with people and never hold grudges. My life has been pretty stable, without too many ups and downs. I admit I can get a bit impatient—I like getting things done quickly, and I’m not fond of waiting around! For decades, I’ve gone out for morning exercise at 5 a.m., and it’s become a lifestyle that’s kept me healthy. I really enjoy living in this care home; it’s comfortable, and I’ve been here at Helping Hand’s facility for over 33 years. They take such good care of us, and I love joining the activities and playing games with my fellow residents. A few years ago, when I turned 100, I even won the bocce championship at the care home!
