In response to the shortage of subsidised care and attention places in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Helping Hand Zhaoqing Home for the Elderly established in 2000, providing a new and affordable option for the elderly.
Zhaoqing Home operates on a self-financing basis. It was awarded "Grade A" accreditation for social welfare organization by the Guangdong Provincial Civil Administration office and "Accreditation Certificate" by Hong Kong Association of Gerontology.
In recent years, Zhaoqing Home has been invited by the HKSAR Government to participate in the "Pilot Residential Care Services Scheme in Guangdong" , providing subsidised residential care services to the eligible elderly in Hong Kong.
