From Small
1978 Established in response to the plight of 100 elderly living in squalid bed spaces who were under threat of eviction. Helping Hand helped rehouse them from Cages to Temporary Housing Areas.
25 Years
of Progress...
1981 Rehoused part of the elderly from Temporary Housing Areas to Sheltered Housing Units.

Annual major fundraising event, Cookie Campaign, took place for the first time.

The first Care Home was established at Kwai Shing. The other four Care Homes were then set up at Lok Fu, Lai Yiu, Chak On and Tai Wo Hau.
Removing the elderly from Temporary Housing Areas and Sheltered Housing Units to the Housing for the Elderly units at Chuk Yuen, Po Lam and Siu Sai Wan.
Holiday Centre for the Elderly was opened.
Infirmary Unit was set up in Lok Fu Care Home.
Hong Kong-wide Elderly Story Telling Competition was held.
Caring Model for Helping Hand Care Homes was implemented.
New Century...
2001 The Hong Kong Jockey Club Helping Hand Zhaoqing Home for the Elderly was opened for admission in Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province, China for the Hong Kong elderly.
  2002 Leisure Trailer for the Elderly was launched in the community.
  2002 Community Elderly Rehabilitation Service started for the community elders
  2004 The Aileen Bridgewater Rock Garden was built in the Holiday Centre for the Elderly to provide added pleasure.
  2004 The Aileen Bridgewater Caring Centre for the Demented Elderly was opened in the Holiday Centre for the Elderly to give training and caring services to the demented elderly and their caregivers.
  2005 Helping Hand Shop for the Elderly commenced operation at our community. It provides professional consultative service to the community elders and their carers. Selected elderly products are available for sale.
